Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese hands-on therapy based on anatomical and physiological theory.This Japanese massage technique is equivalent to that of the Chinese method of acupressure, it derives it name from the Japanese words "shi" and "atsu," meaning "finger pressure."

"Shiatsu technique refers to the use of fingers and palm of one's hand to apply pressure to particular sections on the surface of the body for the purpose of correcting the imbalances of the body, and for maintaining and promoting health. It is also a method contributing to the healing of specific illnesses."

Shiatsu massage treats common psychological and physical complaints by pressing pressure points. Shiatsu massage has been know to alleviates disorders such as depression, anxiety, nausea, stiffness, headaches, arthritis, cramps, or pulled muscles.
